How do you craft a bench from a toddler bed?

I have an behind the times baby bed from the '50's and want to repurpose it as a bench for a child's room.

This article suggests using the headboard and foot-board of the crib. I just refer to those as "ends" since typically they are duplicate.

My mother-in-law has a bench made from the sides of the crib much surrounded by the same behaviour the bench in this article be made. Hers, however, had to hold posts added where the sides done because there weren't any. Typically the sides of the bed are only rails. Anyway, it is pretty tidy. It just allows for a larger bench than you can engineer using the ends of the crib. For a baby's room, though, you may prefer using the ends anyway.

Best wishes!
