I have a black metal bed,I hear you can get special metal paint,do they actually work? Was thinking white?
Answers:
Most spray paint you get at the Home Depot would work. The important thing is the preparation of the bed frame and the method of appling the paint.
First sand the frame with 120 grit sand paper until the gloss of the old paint is gone and then touch up with 200 to 300 grit paper. The frame should be ready to take on paint.
If you want a better finish use a primer first and resand or just paint with a better anti rust spray paint. When painting, spray thin coats and multipule coats to avoid runs.

Hammerite is a good metal paint, the key is preparation, always follow instructions and dont cut corners
buy hammerite, best metal paint to buy.
Get a spray paint, wouldnt reccomend white. Go dark. Silver or gold would be nice.
Hammerite is good but its a bugger to use. its mega stringy and can leave lumps and bumps if not applied well. make sure you use a well ventilated room or even better do it outside, but not on a hot day as it will dry unevenly and will pucker.
a paint called hammerite is the best and it really works.. as the name suggests it usually has a hammered finish which i think looks great but it also comes in a smooth finish-also a great range of colours available....beware tho, it takes ages to dry, is a real bugger to get off your skin and for gods sake dont get it on a carpet....XXX
Rustoleum spray....I just did an entire iron patio set and it looks like new...make sure you are in a well ventilated area...outside is best.....spray with even strokes about 6-8 inches away....they have all kinds of different finishes too....I used satin and it looks great!!
Get a crib !
As suggested elsewhere, I too would recommend Hammerite. According to their website at How can I remove wallpaper hung with Elmer's glue on untreated drywall?
