Can you place wood flooring on an inconsistent floor?

there is a long corridor in my house I'd approaching to have wood flooring. but my contractor say that at the end of the upstairs hallway there is a slight incline. he say wood flooring would have to stop within and be replaced with hearth rug. esthetically I think it would look awful. is what he say true or is there another means of access to keep it adjectives wood?

Answers:    Hardwood floor installation can be slowed by an uneven subfloor. Before installing hardwood floors, use a straight perimeter to find the humps and dips in the subfloor. Then, using a floor leveling compound or asphalt shingles, shim the dips so the floor is even.
YES there is deeply wrong. I have a floor business to this date. even though I'm not as involved contained by as much as would like to be any more. But here go: You level out the rest of the floor to congregate the incline. If that is too expensive, try reducing the incline, that will probably cost more! Get a really polite floor installer "preferably a CFI member. Certified Flooring Installer and Really righteous quality product. Yes sir, it can be done.
How slight is the incline ?
In my antediluvian house I had a hall that went onto the lounge room where on earth they met there be a slight height difference. To overcome the problem I slopped from the corridor which was lower to the loungeroom beside paddle pop sticks ( In skin you don't know there the stick you win inside ice cream, because I don't know where on earth you live.)
The result was it looked close to a nice gently slopping ramp, it work faultlessly for 20 years. When a friends husband replaced it and didn't slope the gap the timber floor wore inequitably in that one spot.
Hope that help, if you need more information email me.
There will be huge gap between the boards if the floor is out of level. As a contractor, he would a bit put down hardwood, cause he will trademark more doing that. They may be able to put leveling compound on the floor to height it up. Leveling can be expensive.
