A dark color would be fine, as long as the lighting in the room is adequate. Soft lighting and a lot of it. Try fun sconces, and mirrors as you accents to set off your dark base.

a goo sugestion is to paint all the walls but one?one color then the other wall a diferent color that is how we did our bathroom and it looks great. oh and black and burgandie will look great.
I had a similar problem with a room. The way I solved it was to paint ONE wall a very high gloss black to serve as my "punch" wall or focal point. The high gloss makes the light bounce off of it creating the illusion of more light. Be sure that you install or have plenty of lighting other wise it will feel like a tiny closet.
You can add other black accents to the room along with other colors.
Personally I would avoid painting the bathroom a dark color unless you have lots of light (natural and artificial). Since you have a tiny window I would opt for a lighter wall paint color and use a darker trim color and/or dramatic accessories (wall hangings, shower curtain, rugs) to make your design statement. Lighter wall colors make the room look larger while dark wall colors make the space seem much smaller.

I think that black would be great! But please paint the ceiling too, there is nothing worse that a darkly painted room with a white ceiling. Do you like toile, there are some very pretty patterns of black and white that would look so pretty in your bathroom for window and shower curtains. Yellow would also look very pretty. Go to a fabric store and find some patterns that you really like and make your curtains with it. Keep all of your other accessories(soap holder, toothbrush holder, garbage can etc.) in white or beige(depending on the color of your fixtures(sink and toilet) and I think that it will look very classy. Black and white pictures would add a nice touch.
not unless you are Gothic.Why not a nice soft light green to create a spa like feeling.
Painting any wall black is a big job no matter what the room size is. Its is hard to get blacke to cover and not look spotty. Black paint is made from a clear base so it dose not cover as well. Use a dark grey primer coat it well make it easyer and make the paint job look 100% nicer
