What should I use to dye curtains?
Answers:
If you use the plastic trash can method, you will need to use a cold water dye bath. Make certain if you use the dry dye to thoroughly disolve it. Most liquid dyes require hot, boiling water to activate them and the plastic may melt. Also, throw at least one cup of vinegar into the water to set the dye. You will have to agitate or stir the draperies often to avoid streaking and change their position constantly. One of the best ways to rinse them, would be to spray them with a hose over a clothes line until you no longer see color running out with the water. Then you can put them in the washer on the spin cycle, with another cup of vinegar. Once you have spun them, you can either throw them in the dryer or line dry, depending on the material. Run your washer empty with a cup of bleach on the hottest setting to remove any dye residue.

RIT Dye, will work just great foe curtains.
First of all, determine what the fabric is. Some fabrics won't take dying well, or at all, like polyester and nylon.
If you use Rit dye, double up the amount. Add a little salt or vinegar to the solution to help set the color. Use a large kitchen sink, or just buy a cheap large plastic tub.
You might have better results with Procion dye.
Be sure to rinse well and hang them to dry unpleated.
