Go to siding manufacturer such as Ownens Corning or Certainteed. Even though it is siding the pictures and color schemes helps a lot. Also Sherwin Williams has color charts made up for colonial style homes that show color schemes for suggestions. Remember to take into consideration your roof color when choosing. Tip: Trick of the trade. When you think you've found the color get a color chip from the paint store. Go to your house and stand at the street away from your house. Close one eye to lose your depth perception and hold the chip up with your house in the background. You should be able to visualize what it will look like. I know it sounds silly but it works.
cream, burgundy and forest green
We saw a beautiful old house just outside Montgomery. The columns and outside trim was done in white, the shutters in black, and the front door was painted a cranberry color. I realize these are pretty traditional colors, but just seeing it back in those moss filled trees made me want to sit in the porch swing sipping on a mint julep myself! I guess that's why so many of those old places have such a timeless elegance to them.
