What is an inexpensive way i decorate my bedroom in an Asian theme?
Answers:
Black metal rod from Ikea with white or off white curtains. Alternatively, use bamboo blinds for curtains (Ikea has cheap ones). Simple plain colored comforter for bed (no bright colors or flowery designs). Put a bowl of water with floating candles or flowers like Frangipani in it and place this on bedside table or a coffee table if you have one in your room. A black plate or wood with smaller candles of different heights or one big candle in it. Fans (Chinese or Japanese) on walls. Have a vase and put a big leaf (one which is long and broad) in it and put it in a corner. Plain black base (low and roundish) and white or off white fabric type of shade for table lamp. For decor, try elephants, wooden ducks, wood picture frames, blue/white porcelain bowl and put a small leafy plant in, for eg. money plant. Furniture made of wood and not stainless steel with glass. No modern lights or rugs.

Go to Target or T.J. Maxx or one of those department stores that also have home decor. They usually will have pictures of Chinese characters. Relatively cheap, but definitely adds to the Asian style. Also, go to your local Asian store or a Flea Market, they usually have bamboos for sale. Buy a couple of those depending on the size and place them around your room. Get some Asian style fabric or lace and hang them on the walls... That helps.
Lastly, for anywhere between $70-100, you should be able to get a rice paper screen/divider. Place that in one corner with the Asian style fabric hanging over it... figurines should also add to the Asian theme.
Hope that helps. Have fun decorating.
How much do you want to change? Paint your walls red, trim in black. Use natural grass or reed scatter rugs. Use grass or paper shades on your windows. Stencil asian alphabet words/characters on your walls.
Use bamboo poles for curtain rods, accent pieces, etc.......... Place a vase of chopsticks on your dresser/nightstand. Use smooth rocks for a zen interest.
These are just a few things to try.
