Use drywell, and don't put up wood paneling. I think wood paneling looks horrible and tacky, unless it's just used as wainscotting.
Paneling can be very beautiful if you buy real wood paneling like mahogany. It can give a room a very rich feel. If you go with paneling make sure the room has a lot of light. The room needs to be fairly large, paneling can make a room feel closed in. Real wood paneling can be quite expensive. I would really suggest drywall. You can apply all sorts of treatments to give it a rich look like wood gives. The great part is if you ever get tired of it, you can always repaint it, you shouldn't ever paint beautiful mahogany paneling!
DRYWALL.....use paneling as decorative touches over drywall in certain areas. Paneling is very 70's unless it is high quality wainscoting. Plus when you sell your house, some people dont like paneling and drywall is very easy to touch up and repaint over to suit anyone's liking.
