Air Mattress?
Answers:
Do you have a box spings that you will be setting this on? I wouldn't want to just lay it on a spring fram. It might catch the mattress or pinch it and ruin your air mattress. I think you are fine to use it that way, just make sure you're not placing it directly on the springs.
Here's to good sleeping

you can but it should not be a long term solution. i know a couple of people who put them on top of old mattresses.
Im not that sure but it sounds ok to do.. its sounds comfortable!
You can do that...
But take care that the air mattress looses air with time due to leakage... This means that you have to inflate it every couple of days...
You will need to get a board or something to evenly support the mattress, such as your old mattress or boxsprings.
I did this for a couple of months years ago when I was trying to save money. It isn't really a very good solution. I had to refill it several times a week and buy a new one every few weeks. They leak and the plastic stretches, I often woke up with my butt and shoulder pushed all the way to the floor. They have more expensive air mattresses now that might last longer, but if I am going to pay $200+ for the air mattress, I may as well buy a real mattress.
My suggestion is to look into a futon or foam mattress. It will be less trouble, not that much more money, and be ultimately more comfortable.
UGGGGH ! I have slept on an air mattress for short periods of time.. they are terrible.. There is NO AIR circulation to your back or the parts touching the air mattress and it becomes somewhat warm after a while with NO circulation. I would STRONGLY not waste your money on one.
You can do that...you nneed to inflate the mattress every day
