well i have a light colored carpet like sand sort of, we just painted our walls this past weekend and we did aurora orange, marmalade, and polar bear white ceilings and trim....colors from Behr. LOVE IT....!
I am buying a house and I go to Walmart or a hardware store, where ever you can buy paint and grab a crap load of free swatches(paper paint samples) and work with all the colors and se what looks best in my house. If you do a dark floor you want light paint and vice versa. Not dark on dark unless you are doing a movie room. Flat paint shows less imperfections than gloss paint by the way. Good Luck
