Laminate Flooring near stairs?

How do you blend the laminate floor with carpeted stairs? SO not a designer but I want my upstairs done. I have a typical split entry.

I would probably run the carpet out from the stairs ending in a "C" or "S" curved edge to give it a little "pizzazz."

Why not get rid of the carpet? Otherwise they have this rubber kind of stuff to attach your laminate flooring to another type of flooring. We have our laminate attaching to our vinyl stairs with it, and my parents have their laminate living room attaching to their vinyl kitchen floor. Try that if you can.
