what color should I paint my kitchen walls if the cabinets are cherry wood?

Other connecting walls are taupe

What is your color scheme through out your home? The carpet nearest the kitchen along with the other colors in that room? If you have jewel tones going on then I would carry those colors into your kitchen. Do you want the room to coordinate with the rest of the rooms near the kitchen. Or if not then go with the colors you find most pleasing because remember that is the hearth of the home and where you spend the most time. With cherry cabinets if they are very traditional in design a deep green would be the route I'd go. Green is a very zen color also. Good luck. You can get a lot of ideas from books at the library or go on line to HGTV.

If your counter top is darker than I would go with a medium maroon. I know, dark, but with the proper lighting and some nice accents on the top of the cabinets it will look very regal. If your counter is light then I would try to match that color and use a border with cherry color in it.
You say cherry wood but that really doesn't say if the color is light (cherry with no stain) or cherry that is darkened to a deep redish brown for the reaction to natural light or stain.

Most of the furniture in our home is the darker reddish brown cherry. We have walls painted light yellow, taupe, deep red, and apple green. All the cherry furniture and the walls look great together.
If your cabinets are of wild cherry (as is almost all cherry lumber used in furniture) and naturally finished (meaning with only polyurethane) they will appear a pearly light/medium beige color but with time will really begin to darken to something, as mentioned, of a reddish hue (keeping its pearly look). As others have said here a lighter color paint would probably look best with your cabinets. A very beautiful wood, one of my favorites to build with. All the best, I hope everything turns out like you are wanting!
A beige would be nice
