How to make your home very wellcoming and very peaceful?

i live in an apt where no decorating can be done and every wall is stone cold white.I love colors but have been able to soothe my home with plants and lighting and lots of pillows also our fish beleive it or not people are drawn to our place and don't forget to add love and laughter that really perks any space up lol
