i am having a hard time getting a straight line while painting between wall and ceiling. Tips please.?

I did try taping but that hasn't helped. What is "cut-in"?

Answers:
I don't like tape either. To cut in (painting next to an object or into a corner where a roller won't reach)I use a wide sheetrock taping knife (8 or 10 inches wide) and hold it against the ceiling. Then just brush the paint on the wall and the knife.Keep a rag handy to wipe it off as needed.Sometimes,if the ceiling/wall line is not too even,it just isn't worth trying to use a different color. It will never look right. Also,a good way to save your sanity is to put a crown or cove molding against the ceiling after painting.Hope this helps.

Ditch the project and live with a white wall. Sheesh.

cutting in is brushing from the ceiling down or from an edge out but i cant figure ot what u could be painting between the wall and ceiling what is holding ceiling up?
cut in referes to painting the majority with a roller, then coming back with a small brush to paint in the rest. you will need to get as close as possible to the edges.

you can try to cut a piece of cardboard and use that as an edge when you come to the corners on the cut-in. cut about 24" and move it along by hand as you move.
Try a hardware store they have devices for these things.
the cardboard thing works well...

Alternatively why try? Use the same color on the ceiling, or better add pre-painted crown moulding or a border around the top.

Seriously just use a good brush, get in a comfortable position on a ladder and take your time with smooth strokes, make sure not to have too much paint on the brush before starting each time.
Take a razor blade knife and lightly cut a line in the corner to the wall and the ceiling dont worry about beening right on it judge your work from off the latter and see how this works
