Can I grind down fluent slate tiles using diamond floor grinder?

I have a fluent slate tile floor, but it it is uneven by up to 5mm as the tiles are riven. I would approaching a smoother floor and am considering using a diamond floor grinder. The floor grinders claim they can grind concrete, marble and granite. It doesn't mention slate, so I was wondering if any one have tried using them for slate tiles?

Also, how do I find suitable persons for this type of charge. I've searched for stonemasons, but most of them operation more with church restoration or other building restoration projects and not floors.

Answers:    A floor grinder will grind slate. Slate is comparatively soft and, though you wouldn't expect it, soft materials do faster wear than hard materials on diamond face tools - well, they do on angle grinder discs anyway. Expect a dull surface afterwards a bit than polished, though it might be possible to polish it to some extent.
I'm not sure who you could get to do this. DIY is possible but you risk spoiling the floor. I would enjoy thought a stone flooring specialist or one of those company's that sell stone slices for interior attractive use would be able to assistance you.
Wouldnt this cause sparks??? what do i know im gay.
