i have new tan panel drapes what color should paint the walls. The walls are porpoise (a blue gray) now?
Answers:
What color is your decor other than the drapes? Nothing yet in the room at all? Go bold! Most anything will go w/ tan. I'd suggest a burnt orange or a warm red. Even a earthy green might be nice...not grass green or neon mind you but more of a green w/ a brown hue. If you're afraid of bold colors, at least avoid tan. Brown is very in right now. I painted my kichen chocolate & tan & got rave reviews.

Really need some help on this one before I can give an answer. You've gone from opposite ends of the spectrum with the gray-blue (cool colors) to a tan (warm color), so I understand why you want to paint. I'd love to help but give us more info okay? If there is carpet, what color? Any items that have to stay (sofa, etc.) and their colors? Art pieces or collections? Wood pieces in the room...are there alot, large scale (armoire or entertainment center, big screen TV), wood tones of those? And, finally, the look you're wanting to achieve...casual, upscale, trendy, etc. These are all things I take into consideration before choosing a paint color. After all, this is going to be the background for everything else in the room, so you want to choose a color (or two) that is going to pull the look together.
