What color/colors should I paint my living room?
Answers:
Sounds like you have the bones for a really great room! There are amny designer websites, HGTV, DIY, Christopher Lowell, Behr Paints and you can also do a search on line for a particular themed living space such as "Tuscan Livingroom Ideas" or Thomasville room decorating ideas. I even go to some of the local fabric and design showrooms (like Hancocks) to look around and get ideas. Sometimes people are intimidated by mixing different patterns and colors and seeing them grouped together like that can give you ideas on how to use what you have with a few additions that can make a dramatic change in your rooms.
Your furniture sounds like it would be great with pumpkin colored walls, a tapestry rug in mediteranean colors (golds, greens, reds, browns and blue), then window coverings, wall art and accent pieces pulled from the colors of the rug. There are alot of products in a variety of color right now. The biggest decision is to choose colors that reflect your personality. I find if I choose good solid colors for the windows, walls and furniture, the accessories can be changed out to give seasonal boosts to your decorating scheme.

From watching a lot of HGTV, orange and light blue are often the colors used with brown.

it depends how big you want the room to feel. to make it feel bigger, use lighter colors. and the opposite for the opposite effect.
Hi 78!
I have always relied on the interactive website put out by Behr Paint. It is really cool. You can find the color of your couch in there and choose another color for the wall! They show you how it will look right there on the screen. If your couches are a light color I would go with a darker shade of the color you choose. It will bring out the accent colors in the room. Also an area rug in front of the couch that has both dark and light colors of the room.
Have fun!

What color is your personality? Thats a good place to start.
Lighter colours are a better choice cause it will project your room bigger and will set a more pleasant mood.I would go for a Light Golden Hay Colour, which rather looks like a creamy pale gold with a tinge of yellow/orange.
Warm colors are beautiful. I painted my bathroom yellow moth and added gold trip accesseries and beautiful white and light brown shower curtains..My husband thinks I got someone else to do it. I played around with colors till I found the one I wanted.
You may want to explore the colors first...know what your living room will look like if painted in the color chosen.
Here is the website I used.
Paint a neutral color to macth you couch earth tone it's really the going thing now day's. Keep your trim a high gloss white this will also look good with the stain floor. I wish i knew if you had slick ceiling if so use a maroon surly you have crown if not install some looks great with the high gloss white trim plus it will off set the neutral color and separate the maroon with a very nice up to date. If you do this make sure the maroon is a deep base a clear base will make you have to put 5 coat's on the ceiling ok your looking for a rose base. Now you go buy 1qt latax glazing mix with 1 gallon of a darker neutral color but stay in the same color zone just darker get some 2 inch masking tape and tape of base and crown and door caseing's get a wal-mart bag 5 or more and pat the bag into the mixture i told you to make 1qt to 1 gal, pat your hand to take off exsist paint on the bag and than start patting the wall there 100 of faux pattern's but this is just fine make sure you use an eggshell wall paint. This is a great look enjoy if your ceiling is not slick still stick with what i told you when your finish invite everone you know over and let them brag on your work. ENJOY
