Decorate Unfinished Basement?!?

I don't want to refinish the basement, just want to make it more homey without spending money. We already have a couch down there, a TV, a small playhouse, a pingpong table, etc. But only one area is carpeted and it's the only area that feels a bit homey! How do i change it to make people feel more comfortable down there?

Answers:
there is waterproof paint do that first it is for boats
you can find many colors for basements....
Lowe's or Home depot has them
ask them what is best they sell this paint everyday

Other answers:
carpeting is your best option, second by decorations or better lighting ( a common problem), if you have a little bit more money, try putting in a dropped ceiling and sealing the foundation.

Here in the dollar stores they sell adhesive back tile squares that are very inexpensive. Check the size of the area that has nothing now and purchase these tiles in a color that compliments the carpeting. There is no way that you can make it homey without spending a little money..
Decorating without spending money is downright difficult, or next to impossible. But, it can be done, with a bit of creativity.

Talk to several of your friends, ask them if they have, or know someone who has unwanted furniture, or pictures, or area rugs, lamps, etc. A friend of mine did this to his whole place once. He obviously explained his situation, and said that this way whenever the friend that gave a particular piece of furniture to him came over, they would see a piece of their old home, and feel more like home, and comfortable at his place. He had so many things to choose from! Collect a few things to place about the basement, until you have the proper $ in your budget.
Area rugs, and paintings will make a huge difference in breaking up a monotonous room quickly.

Good luck, and happy decorating!

I painted the ceiling a bright color (light blue) and added accent lighting that really helped to make the rooms feel more comfortable.
