Should I put up skirting boards past or after wallpapering?
Answers: Put the boards in first, compress any gaps, prime and paint, consequently put up the wallpaper. However if as you say the walls are that shifting you will have to reflect on about how the wallpaper will look on an imbalanced surface. Best then to compress with a fine screed (plaster) and after wallpaper.
Suggest you put it on before skirting, you can other run the skirting against the surface and see where it wishes patching first, then patch, afterwards wallpaper= much better finish, however why the hell would you ever want to put up wallpaper!! It's 2007 not 1957 up to you mate your house
i say formerly as it will hide mistakes
I would right to be heard boards on after papering as it will look much better.
I'd suggest using a piece of clear plastic laminate when filling contained by the gaps between the wall and boards. (You know the giving you get surrounded by a stationary shop for covering bound documents?) They only cost more or less 20p.
It lets you see what you're doing next to the filler but protects the paper at impossible to tell apart time.
Hope this helps.
Skirting board first!
Easier after but OK beforehand, up to you
I would say put the skirting boards up first it in recent times sounds so un-natural to do it the other way.
Skirting first, flood the gaps, consequently hang wallpaper. Unless you are a short time ago using thick bin liner paper to squirrel away the wall imperfections, consequently it won't matter.
When you come to redecorate you will never capture the old serious newspaper from behind the skirting board.
in need a doubt the skirting board first to be honest it is the only approach. especially in a prehistoric house
i would say after as it will look so much neater..
You really must put the skirting board up first and plague in adjectives the gaps etc .....it might appear easier to article first ..but if you ever decide to remove the newspaper at a later date ..it will not come past its sell-by date cleanly and leave an margin ..this will be difficult to make biddable ...
Put the skirtings on first. Apart from filling they will requirement to be painted as well. Better to struggle rather on the papering!
