My ancient latex paint smells sour. Is it not detrimental to use?

I stored a can of latex paint in the crypt five years ago. It looks good on top, no mold, no clumps and I assume it will roll on well. I'm only just not confident that the odor is safe surrounded by a 12 year old's bedroom. Once the initial smell leaves, will there be any stable toxins from this foul smelling paint? thanks, ...Homeowner/muralist

Answers:    Throw it away. It is just paint. Your 12 year old is irreplaceable !!

Try putting a teaspoon surrounded by vanilla extract in the paint. See if that improve the smell. Or paint a piece of foam core board, and see how it smells after a couple of days. I'd open
a windowpane when I was drawing, too!
