What the best way to extinguish a candle?

Blowing at it creates smoke (which usually distracts from the smell of the candle). Snuffers come in traditional styles (a bell that deprives the flame of oxygen until it goes out) and a smokeless style (that you push the wick into the melted wax which prevents smoke and then retrieve the wick from the hardened wax when you burn it again).

Which is best? Are there other methods than those I've listed?

Answers:
I keep a toothpick or a bamboo skewer around, and I push the wick over into the wax, and then quickly pull it up again, so I don't dig it out the next time. This is a great method--no smoke, easy to light the next time, and no special equipment (snuffer) required!

a brass candle snuffer old fashioned way!
Get wax on your finger tips and squeeze the wick quickly. You will not get burned.
I've heard a snuffer is the best
I just lick my fingers and smother it between my index finger and thumb. That usually prevents any smoke, if it does smoke then do it again.
snuffers
pinch the wick with your fingerand thumb,it burns but only for a second or 2
