What the hell is a garden tub?
Answers:
A garden tub is the name used for a whirlpool type tub without jets. A soaker tub. Normally a garden tub is built in a frame so you can sit candles or flowers or etc around the tub. It comes in different sizes, but is normally round or slightly oblong. You use a roman tub faucet as a rule with this type of soaker tub which mounts to the frame or the tub itself. One good thing about having this type of tub in your bathroom is that you can pull it out and have a whirlpool dropped into the same hole.

its an oversized bath tub
I don't know why they call it a garden tub, perhaps because it is about the same size as a washtub you would plant flowers in.
Believe it or not, a garden tub is a very small tub (sometimes with a small shower attachment) so you can take a bath right in the bedroom.
Used mostly in Manufactured/mobile homes it was quite a fad a few years ago. Nice for kids and babys. when you do a search just put it like this "garden tub". make sure you use the quotes.
that way you get only websites with that exact phrase.
It's an oversized bathtub that is recessed into the floor. A pain to get into, a pain to clean and also a big waste of water. If it doesn't have a heater in it, the water will get cold before the soak is over....I don't think it's a great advantage, but could be fun for the kids as an inside mini-pool. I fought my contractor to KEEP one OUT of my house. They usually are recessed or built up around with tile. They are pretty, but need an extra hot water heater to fill to the top. Not a great selling point for most people.
A garden tub is an oversized tub, its usually deeper and wider, than a standard 6 ft tub.....Sometimes they have jets, like a whirlpool and sometimes they don't....I had one installed in my master bathroom and I LOVE IT!....Mine has the jets and it is truly a wonderful treat....You will really enjoy it!
