i'm doing wainscoat (sp) with wallpaper in a bedroom...how many inches high should it be?
Answers:
I've done plenty of custom wood wainscoating and generaly we go 2/5 of the total wall height. It works with wood I imagine it would work with wallpaper. Make sure to figure in how the height of the waincoat works with the height of your wall switches, windows, and furniture. You would hate to just barely hit a switch or window or be below or above a piece of furnitue if you didn't like the look at the end. Take everything into consideration. Good luck.

Standard Wainscot is 32" and 48" panels. The panels can be cut down to needed size.
If you do a search on "Wainscot Standards" you will see many sites that talk about the proper height.
In the end it's what you like and looks the best.

For a typical 8 foot wall, the wainscott is typically the bottom 1/3 of the wall. So, if the wall is 96" high, run the wainscott up to 32". You may need to vary it to get a visually pleasing mix, but this is the general ballpark. For taller walls, adjust accordingly.
36-42 inches high
