I am trying to break some granite rocks in basement floor. To make it level. What's the best way?

The floor is concrete with the rocks sticking through it about 4-6 inches. I just want everything level so I can build a playroom. I used a jackhammer but the bits got dull to quick. Are there different bits I should use or is there any easier way. If I don't remove rocks ceiling from the couple of places the height of the ceiling will be less than 6 ft.

Answers:

Try heating up the rock with a blowtorch. Make sure you have a fan going for ventilation and a fire extinqueser at the ready. It will be slow going but after you heat a part of the rock for awhile, you can hit the rock with a rock chisel. If you drill a series of very small drill holes into the rock where you want the break to occur, that will help too. The heat will make the rock expand, making it easier to break. You might have to do this several times to remove all of it. Good luck.
