We want to put within a contemporary fireplace-Are the gas one's cheesy?

We are moving in 3 weeks and want to put a fireplace within our new home- I resembling the traditional mason installed fireplaces but heard that the cost is especially expensive! The newer townhomes have gas fireplaces and they seem to be to be nice?? Do any of you regret getting a nice gas fireplace instead of paying thousands more for a real fireplace next to a chimney? I'd rather reclaim the money if a gas one would do the trick for the house- I want the new home to be classy and I especially love a fireplace on Christmas morning beside the family! Thanks for your relief with this one! :)

Answers:    We enjoy had gas surrounded by 2 out of the 3 homes we have built and wouldn't run back to woodburning. In certainty we actually have to pay more for the gas within this newest house we are contained by. In the winter, we have it on every darkness. It's up to you and what you wish to wages in direct to get the most faithful look. Ours are realistic satisfactory that people ask if it's wood or not. An added cool phase besides not having to verbs it is the remote. Spend some time picking the right "logs".
You can get especially nice and realistic gas fireplaces. We own a "real" chimney with brick fireside, the whole nine yard but installed gas logs just for the facility of not dealing with ash and wood. All we miss is the crackle and smell. Most spanking new construction is going toward gas aswell, a true brick chimney is rarely built today unless in super lofty end homes. They are of late too expensive. I would install a raised inglenook and mantle though and not just install the element into the wall. It looks more like definite fireplace, and if you get the steel wool type cinders to cover the gas fittings, they even look approaching glowing red coals.
Gas is nice (we own one in our townhouse) but I option we would have thought almost having a blower installed next to it as well.

The grill doesn't circulate throughout the living room quite so capably; so I'd recommend choosing a fireplace with a blower as very well.

And do not forget the CO detector when you have a fireplace!
