If you do it yourself you can finish it for a few thousand bucks. Really the expense will be carpeting and whatever you decide to do with your bathroom.
The framing, drywall, electrical, and paint are simple to do and cheap.
If you decide to do it yourself, make sure you run heating duct and have a return vent.
usually a contractor will charge per studs (are hung for all the framing), per peice of drywall, and square foot prices for drop ceilings and flooring.
i own a construction company and what we would charge is apporx. $5 a stud, and 28-24$ per piece of sheetrock. that includes materials, mud, taping, and sanding. drop ceilings and flooring would run at 65$ and hour plus materials.
It would be hard to say. California or the East Coast would be higher than other places. As a remodeler to give you an estimate. Do what you can afford. Later do the rest.
I think you could have it done for ten grand. or are you going to do it yourself? Is there a spot to hook up the bathroom down there?
