To measure square footage of a room the formual is LxWxH=sqft?

I'm try to finish a room with insulation and sheet rock so I'm trying to figure out how much material I will need.

Answers:
The easiest way is to measure all around the room and multiply by the height. That is the square footage. ie: you have a 10 x 12 room. That is 44 feet around multiplied by 8 feet from ceiling to floor (or whatever the height is).
44 x 8 =352 sq ft, give or take for openings and wastage.

Other answers:
yes for one wall then you have to multiply that by the number of walls if they are thesame size...if not then you have to do that for all of the walls individually

No, that formula gives cubic feet. You need to calculate the area of each surface you wish to isolate. That is, the length of one side times the length of the other. Do this for each surface.
Well let's see here -- You just gave 3 dimensions which usually means a cubed dimension -- To find a Squared dimension you usually use 2 dimensions which are the Length and Width which when multiplied together or "Squared" as most people call it You will now nave your dimensions in SQUARE FEET !
that is not correct.. u need to use square root of dimensions when measuring a room or smthng like that.. and for that u need to multiply the lenght x the width.. or in other words u need to multiply one side with the other.. good luck! :o)
Square footage would only need be measured in length and width, not height. If you also need square footage of a wall you would measure the same, Width by height. EX: a room 10 ft by 12 ft is 120 sq. ft. A wall in that same room could be 12 ft. by 8 ft high making its square footage 96 sq. ft.

Square footage of floor = Length of room x width of room
Square footage of wall = Length of room x heighth of wall

Just consider, there might be a slight amount of trim/cutting waste due to irregular sized areas...I believe that Lowes website has project calculators that will help you estimate how much material you will need in order to be sure you have enough to finish your project.

Good luck.
