Which covers a dark color better White Paint or Primer?

Sherman-Williams has the best color blocker, kind of expensive, but it works well with only 1 coat. That is what I use and I'm a professional painter, have been in the business for 30 years.......

if going from dark to light - two coats are probably necessary - on the first coat - use a product called Kilz - any hardware or home improvement store has it - don't be scared to use a good thick coat of the Kilz

It's best to use a primer then use white paint. Makes life much easier so you don't have to keep painting over and over.
primer for white. Because of its molecular strucute primers get attach more to any surface than any other paint.
