My room is in the garage and I have no heat. What can I use to heat the room up?

The garage is remodeled with sheetrock but still has a metal garage door.
There is no gas hookups in our house, our house is purely electric.
I have 3 windows, none of which are big enough for a window unit of some sort.
The room is 400 SQ FT.
The garage is not well-insulated.

Any cheap ways of heating would be nice!

Definitly have to do something about that metal door. Metal is a great conductor of heat. It will either let it in in the summer or let it out in the winter. So before you end up throwing all your money away on electric heating bills or pellets or any oil you really need to look into insulating the area where that door is.

My inlaws didn't want to get rid of their garage door so what they did is build a new wall infront of it. So from the outside they had a small 4 foot area of storage that they could access through the old garage door. Then on the inside that wall was insulated and looked just like a regular wall. Good luck to you. 400 Sqf is actually a VERY Big space to heat since it is just your room. (most people have rooms that are aprox 120 to 180 sqf.

So good luck with it.

Oh ya - and possibly a ceiling fan may help you too. If you have high ceilings in there (like our garage is very high) the heat will want to rise up there . So to get more of it near where you are - the fan will work well :)

A pellet stove might be good. It heats inexpensively and usually is very easy to install. Plus it looks good.

How about one of those oil-filled radiators that you plug in?
If you don't want it for a garage, get rid of the metal garage door, put in a wall, insulate the heck out of it and heat it with a light bulb! Actually an oil filled electric heater would be very efficient for such a small space.
fire
If there is a central air system installed in the house all ready all you have to do is run a duct of the plenium <where the other ducts are, cut a hole for the new boot and screw in a grill.
