Travertine vs ceramic tile in a bathroom?

This is for a bathroom tub surround and floor.

Answers:
Go for ceramic tile. Travertine is too porous (absorbs liquid), making it unadvisable for your purpose. The light color of the travertine will also make it more likely to show stains.

Other answers:
ceramics are less maintence than natural stone ie travertine
with travertine every now and again you will need to re-seal with lithofin stain stop/sealant,plus it is more expensive to fit travertine than ceramic, but at the end of the day it is what you like that is important.
