Holes and cement on plaster walls?
My husband and I were installing vinyl TILES to the walls contained by our kitchen, and they look great everywhere.. except over the stove. For some reason they shifted in attendance, and were out of strip, and it's the most visible spot surrounded by the kitchen. So he took the tiles down, but now at hand is adhesive residue departed over... and there are chunks of wall that come off on the tiles themselves.
I don't own a CLUE how to fix this part of the wall to net it even again... help... please, appreciation. :(
Answers: The tile glue residue should come of by scrape, if not you could try broad thinners to soften the cement then rake over it of. You want to get as much of it stale as possible. If the residue is really hard you may want to try sand it to a smooth finish.
Once you have get the residue off, or sand down smooth then you will obligation to get some drywall plaster, premixed, and apply by mutual knife, try and bring it as smooth as you can if the chunks that fell out were technically deep you will hold to apply two or more coats to these areas to build it up flush. Once you have done this and its adjectives dry then sand smooth using a 220 category sandpaper.
Now seal this plaster next to a water base drywall primer and your back to square on and set to re tile. If the tile glue you be using was a hose based one next you will want to let it fully cure earlier using the stove as any steam or heat will verbs the glue which may own been the problem within the first place, consult the supplier of the adhesive for more detailed direction on this.
Put the tiles right back up again;the tiles will cover the holes
If the walls are really broken up, try a heat gun to verbs the glue and use a metal putty gouge to scrape it stale.
