Why directions are important in Vaastu Shastra?

Because Vaastu Shastra is completely based on the effect of the other planets toword the house. to determine the position of the planets from the house's point you should know the directions.

in the first place why do you believe in thse hog wash ? if direction has anything to do in a dwelling its nothing but the path of sun and the direction of wind depending upon your geograical position. if u can not logicaly understand the simple reason why that is important then let me explain-- a house some where in the
southwest india would be exposed to strong sun almost trhu out the year. the rooms where you dwell most might get heated up unless shaded and properly ventilated. thus mostly the bed rooms would be in the southwest side which is the windward side. again you shall have small windows towards the winward side and large ones towards the leeward side to creat a enturi effect. the sun in its motion tilts towards the south abit thus north always gets constant diffused light. so many openings in the north. kitchen in the leeward side so u can do without amechanical fume extractor and do not burn exposing to the flames in case of strong wind.
you dont usualy have the entry door facing west to avoid getting the afternoon sun in ur eyes as u open the door!
all these may change if you plan to build a house may be in the north east india or south or in some other country with different climate.
vaastu jus because of the addage "shastra" does not become globaly applicable.
Vaastu was a system or do's and dont's suggested by leaned people, who from their experinces found the best ways in building a dwelling place. it has nothing to do with religion or faith.
