What color should I paint my new living room? I have lots of old medium colored wood furniture (antiques). Thx

You could do any number of colors. Earth tones like beige, mocha, light green, yellow would all look good with browns. Do up an accent wall with a faux painting technique. I like those stamps of flowers or butterflies. I am planning on doing a room with maroon carpet and pink vertical blinds with a cream base coat and stamping blue and maroon butterflies on the wall.
I like Martha Stewart paint. I did a bedroom a color she called "goldfish." As the name implies it was quite orangey apricot. Painted the trim a dark red and put in light apricot carpet. A friend of ours painted clouds on the corner. It turned out really nice. My bed was made of rubber wood which looked like a dark reddish brown.
There's a color rule I read somewhere that the best designs are 60% one color 30% another and 10% accent. It also suggested using black for accents, like photo frames, a vase or a lamp base. With kids, you might want to consider using some kind of wood flooring and area rugs.
Hope this helped some.

Don't paint antiques! Have them restored, but not painted, stripped or dipped. It doesn't look anywhere as nice and it destroys the value.

Paint your living room taupe. Get wood laminate floors. They are beautiful and a lot easier to clean.
To be sure, you could take a pic of your living room and try changing color walls on the pic using some software to edit pictures.
Paint the room red! With a cream carpet and those antiques will stand out brilliantly. Have fun and take risks, walls can always be repainted.
Navajo is a neutral beige, easy to live with especially if you need something to offset a full spectrum of color in your hanging wall decorations and furniture.
I think you should try like a green (soft not bold) or even a rose. as for a carpet a neutral color or better yet hardwood floors...just a thought anyhow:)
Paint your walls an antiqued red or antiqued mustard. I did and it looks great. Also you could go with an antiqued sage. All of these is great. As for carpet I would go with Berber. It lasts and lasts.
