Curved wooden appendage railing for indoor stairs?
-25in total rise
-3 other steps (47in wide)
-47in opening
my top platform is going to curve (semi-circle) around 90deg on like plane so the steps would run down next the the wall of the slit (opening is in the middle of a room)
How do i stir about making/ or finding a curved wooden handrail to follow the profile of the top platform?
Im a metal worker so i know little on bending wood....Do they trademark metal handrails next to wood grain that i could paint? :-)
Thanks
Jess
Answers: Hi,
I presume you are the perfect solution to your problem. Instead of a wood paw rail, why not formulate a metal one. Shiny or opaque. This is terribly chic-modern now and would also be pretty cost-effective as you could design / make it yourself. Nothing complex, just sleek and simple. Very cool.
Our unknown home is being built presently and we have a curved staircase contained by the foyer. Also the palladian window have wooden framing to match the curve of the skylight. I wasn't there to view, but obviously it can be done. Check next to the guys in the lumber nouns of Loews or Home Depot. They will be able to pace you through what needs to be done.
