How do you paint latex paint over oil based paint?
Answers:
You can buy a paint primer that will go over your oil base and then will allow you to paint over it then with your latex. Ask at your paint department in the store where you are getting your paint for the correct product - we have one at our store but it is brand specific . If you can purchase the product line made by Zinnsser paint products you could get their 1-2-3 It is a primer that will go on any surface and then any paint can go over it. Do not go right over your oil with your latex - it will not be long lasting.
Other answers:
Lightly rough up the surface with 100 grit sandpaper and you should be OK. You want to make the surface receptive to the new paint without making scratches.
