Slipcovers! PLEASE HELP!?
Answers:
Congratulations on the beginning our your lives' together. I love HGTV, there are so many helpful hints there. Fabric is not cheap and slipcovers are not easy to make. What I would do is to wait for a sale, like at Hecht's. I saw them on sale for 50% recently, so I'd wait for a sale (they still will be about $100 each but are of good quality and would last a long time). You need to measure your furniture before you purchase any. I don't know how many colors, etc. they come in. One thing you could do if you don't find anything you like, maybe, is to dye a white set. Use dye that you can purchase at the grocery store. The directions will tell you how to do it and make sure you buy plenty of it for the size you'd be using. It would be a bit messy to do but when it dries, it would add a lot of color. Another hint I saw on HGTV for keeping the slipcovers in place was to use the foam "noodles." You'd get some and tuck them way down between where the cushion and back of the furniture meets. Another good thing about noodles is that you can cut them to fit.

Wal Mart

Sears
Financially it sometimes works out better to purchase them already made rather than buying the material yourself but if you go to your local fabric store they may have patterns, if you do not know how to follow patterns or sew ask if they have a course.

I am not sure how to make one from scratch, but we always use king size sheets and put them in place with extra large safety pins. Good luck!
eBay.Huge selection and you can find one (new) for as little as $50. In my experience, slipcovers almost never fit perfectly. You just have to re-tuck them every day. I've heard that putting bunched-up newspaper in the tucked areas helps hold them in place, but I haven't tried it.
