What color paint goes with hunter green carpet?
Answers:
Neutral tones are especially practical in the world of decoration because their neutrally means they can easily be teamed up with other colors. Warm colors make a room seem smaller and more homey, a place where we can retreat to unwind.
There are many techniques for increasing the expressiveness of the walls and for making your home a place where you feel at ease. Many neutral tones are associated with natural materials, stone, earth, wood, straw, sand or with artificial materials such as metal, glass, and concrete.
Here are ten household helpful hints for choosing colors and wall covering fabrics to decorate your home:
1. White and neutral tones are an ideal backdrop to make a work of art or tapestry stand out.
2. Neutral tones should be applied when a space is overloaded architecturally, or when we want something to fade into the background.
3. Neutral tones age well so they can be used where you do not redecorate, or touch up, very often; or if our intention is to specifically create an aged effect.
4. Variations on neutral tones are ideal for small rooms.
5. White and neutral tones are a great way of combining different decorative styles as they act as a neutral transition zone between one style and the other.
6. Gray metal or gray concrete, two neutral tones, are especially apt for creating modern ambience with a cutting edge feel.
7. Textured neutral tones, like limestone or temperate paint, are perfect for creating rustic effects.
8. Neutral tones fabrics, carpets, curtains, or tapestries are a great help when decorating because they go well with al the colors.
9. If you want a room steeped in neutral tones to be livelier, you can introduce a few dramatic color touches dark colors, even black, are a good solution.
10. A neutral tone is perfect for painting a wall or doors that you want to be inconspicuous.

Yellow or cream might be best - be sure to get paint chip samples and look at them in the room at different times of the day to see what you like best, whatever color you choose. I have hunter green carpets myself and I like a light yellow shade. I also like pink, but I wouldn't recommend that for your purposes.

If you try to describe hunter green a bit more fully I may be able to help
I'd pull up the hunter green carpet and go with hardwood or laminate floors with a rug. Carpet holds so many allergens and it is a guest bedroom -- you never know what people are allergic too. Keep it simple with clean lines.
If you'd like to tone-down the colour in the room, go for a light neutral such as Ivory. If you like bold statements, then I'd suggest something daring like burgandy...
If you don't like it, you can always re-paint!
Just have fun with it!
Cream or Yellow is good but why not go for something different.
I would choose a southwestern clay color this should make the room stand out. Of course it really depends on what color the adjacent rooms are painted.
The lighter shade of d carpet's color wil look good, too. So wil some shade of orange, brown or yellow.
Eggshell white to something darker.
Your carpet is going to be dark so you need lighter walls.
Cream if you want soft and suttle.....Bergundy if you want bold and rich look
Try a deep Maroon if you want a deep/rich feel.
If that's too dark for you, then go for an earthtone,(Tan,Beigh.etc.)This will give it a lighter, airier feel.
I really like the dramatic look of the Maroon,it's quite dramatic and if decorated nicely, very attractive.
Take a chance, try something different, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Good Luck
Have A Great Day!
cream
I also think cream is a good color but you could go with some wall paper with some kind of print that has the color in it . Something that will go with the rest of your house. Maybe you could Put the cream color on and then sponge on some hunter green paint in a random pattern on the walls. It will look great and it is easy to do.
Since hunter green is a darker color, you want walls that will be a lighter color. Hunter green is also a woodsy, earthy color and therefore you should probably go with paints that are more neutral or earth tones. Here are some shades I would try:
- White
- Light - Med. Beige
- Light - Med. Brown
- Light - Med. Grey
Or possibly if you really like green:
- Light - Olive Green
For a rich deep color you could use maroon, but you risk the Christmas colored room association.
The yellow and green combination I think can sometimes work for the outside of a house with green shudders and a green roof and yellow siding, but x-nay on inside. I think the two contrast too much to use together inside a house.
My favorite combo would be a nice beige or brown with the carpeting followed by grey or white as runner-ups.
To keep the room airy I would suggest going with a yellowish-tan color. You want the room to be inviting and comfy, so I would not suggest an ivory or white walls, they are to stark. Go with a natural color that is light in color to keep the room from closing in. For an actual color suggestion I would try Wheatgrass form Lowe's American Tradition Signature Series. This paint is great! Great coverage, great colors! I have used this color in several of my homes. It is great to accent with greens, coppers, reds, chocolates, endless options. I'd paint the room Wheatgrass, accent it with rustic red, dark brown, and use some wrought iron pieces giving it an old world feeling.
You want to go to a color that is opposite on the color wheel... which would be red lol. Not unless you want the Christmas feel all year long. I'll tell you what I did with my Hunter green bathroom. I used a light grey. Ralph Lauren at the Home Depot has a color called "Cool Grey". You can get the color chip and compare it at home with your carpet. The number on the card starts with "WW", but cool grey is on there too. Just a suggestion :)
Hunter Green carpet is a bit dated. If you want a fresh, more modern look, find a nice neutral room-sized rug, or if you have vinyl or wood floors under the carpet, do away with it.
Next find a fabric, a throw pillow, a wall hanging or piect of art tht has all of the colors that you are drawn to and use it as your pallet. Pick the lightest for the walls, another for the trim and the third (you can add a fourth) as accent colors with, say, drapes and throw pillows. This is a designers trick and it works!
Good Luck.
red tones - pink, Burgundy, brick. If that is too bold try something in the beige family.
Try a taupe color with bright white trim om molding, baseboards and doors. Go to better homes and garedens website and you can try paiting a room with different colors, at least you get an look at it before you paint. You can also use this website to paint homes too. A great product via our email.
