Can you help yourself to the texture out of a ceiling?
Answers: damp the ceiling down with marine, allow it to soak for 10 minutes, take a huge putty knife and it should adjectives scrape bad. you may have to do some sand to smooth things out, then prime and paint...
The above answer is correct, but.....
You don't want to grasp the ceiling "too" wet. Use a garden sprayer and spray as if you be painting, use basically enough to "tint" the texture. Too much marine and you'll damage the quality newspaper facing of the underlying sheetrock. You want just plenty water to own the texture come down in small sheets. If you're contained by a warm climate, 10 minutes might be too long to hang about. I would start with a moment ago two or three minutes, and adjust your timing from there. When you've get it right, the texture comes off pretty easily. Another tip to manufacture the job easier and faster is to use as all-embracing a knife as possible such as a 12" taper knife.
hopefully both above answers are right. We took our 'popcorn' texturing past its sell-by date and it was a MESS! the sheetrockers did a fruitless job on the joint and the whole ceiling have to be re-done.. mud, tape, sand, the whole bit.
best o' luck to you on this project.
