What sort of things can I net cheaply and market for a difficult price?

Answers: silk flower arrangments or other arrangments in vase. Buy and then re-sell on e-bay. You could knit things if you can knit. If you cant knit highly well you could other just save it to simple things like scarves.
You could still do the candle item. most people approaching nicely bedecked candles in their homes at the present time whatever time of year it is.
Bake and put up for sale cakes. Everybody loves home baked cake but don't get round to doing it themselves.
You could put on the market any books that you've read.
Car boot sale?? enjoy you any junk you can bring rid of or can your friends and family facilitate you out with their cast-offs. You'll be helping them by getting rid of it for them and this won't cost you a penny. You can make hundreds of pounds at motor boot sales depending on how much stuff you hold.
