If I want to educate myself in the interior designing field, what would be my next step?

Make sure it is what you really want to do. Its not easy doing this business, its basically referrals.
Before you start school you can work at places like Ethan Allen, which offer design service to there clients and you really don't need design experience, but you will need sales experience.
You will really understand this business and get some insight as to how it works as well. If you are convinced this is what you want to do, then go to school part time while you get experience working in the field. You will also build up a client list you can take with you if you decide to go on your own.
I didn't get my degree in this because I didn't need too. I started working and I naturally took to it. I did do a lot of reading and researching on design and taught myself. In some states, they don't require you have to have a license
Also, one of the most important things is to get a portfolio started. Every project you do, make sure to take before and after pics. Get a good digital camera and do it yourself. Hope this helps!

1)contact a company already in this field and see about an apprentise position.
2)check out colleges and get loans to get you through and start from there.
go check for schools that offer a course for designing.
buy a book to read and get some ideas and inspirations. Get a software like punch home design to design the house and preview your design.
