I would buy a feather topper for it... My son's tempur-pedic be to firm for me also... he liked it though. Perhaps the one you purchased be to firm. By the way... my son's bed be several years old... it didn't carry softer.
Ok, I'll help you break it within....lol. Just kidding, I don't even know you. I bought a mattress wad and put it under a cloth bed protector. The bed protector keep it down on the bed and won't let it move around. You can achieve them at Walmart, Target, or Kohl's....basically anywhere they get rid of mattresses and bed sheets
