How do you demagnitize a magnet, only just somewhat bit.?

I have a wooden child's microwave and the door closes beside a magnet, but the magnat is so strong the kids can't open it - Any concept?

How about putting a piece of sticky cartridge or masking cartridge on each partially to lessen the strength/effect till it's thick satisfactory.
