any ideas for a nursery theme?

I like soft colors for infants. Greens, purples and blues are really soothing and nice.
I would stay away from yellow. It is the hardest color for the human eye to see and studies have shown that babies who spend a lot of time in yellow rooms tend to cry more than other babies. Adults who spend time in yellow areas without other colors to break up the yellow tend to be more hostile and aggrivated.
When I decorated my youngest's nursery I looked for the theme and then worked from there. I found the bedspread I wanted to use (or something like that) and then selected a color from that to use on the walls.
Here's another hint - I decorated my nursery based on what I wanted the bedroom to be later in my baby's life. They don't stay infats for long so I wanted something that would transform as she grew. I purchased the quilt that I will use on my girl's bed when she moves into a twin bed. I selected the room color based on that. Now, when she moves to a big girl bed I do not have to redo the entire room - just touch up areas that may need it. Since infants don't "play" or spend much time in their bedroom I find this to be an easy and inexpensive way to decorate for her as an infant and later as a toddler.
I'm including some links that I found helpful when I moved in to my new house and had to decorate to fit our tastes. I guess the most important piece of advice I can give you is to take your time and find something that you like...don't worry about other people. It's your house and if you like it go for it! When we moved everyone thought I was crazy with some of my color choices, but now that everything is done it looks great (I think anyway!).
Good luck and have fun!

For me, I like the simple stuff like gingham or for a lil girl maybe lady bugs or butterfly's and for a lil boy maybe teddy bears or something like that. I don't like the Disney theme or anything like that. Hope that helps.

Teddy bears or ballerina bears for girls. Race cars or firetrucks for boys.
Nature. Paint the sky, a hill, a tree, birds, rabbits, deer ect. The possibilities are endless. I did this when my daughter was born and everyone loved it! It's good for a girl or boy and it can grow with them. Congrats and good luck
