Should we go with the builder or a contractor (after home is built) to do the floors in our new home?

He will probably hire the same guy you would. If the price is in line- let him do it , you get to layers of reponsiblity that way- The builder and the Sub-

We built a home 2 years ago and used our own contractor. The builder will probably use the cheapest
company he can find. You will get a warranty with your
own contractor and will be able to pick out from more flooring choices.

if you are happy with your builder you should let him do the floors and have a complete warranty on it , if not, a tile contractor may be cheaper but you will need to take a chance with less warranty
good luck!
Contractor, you will have more choices.
I sell flooring. I would recommend doing some home work on who your builder would use to do the installation. If he uses someone that is going to cut corners, use the wrong underlayment, use the wrong mortar, the floor is going to fail over time. Find a flooring contactor with a good reputation, not someone who works from the trunk of their car. If the floor is installed correctly it will last for years.
you should hire a contractor . the builder will do the same ,he will just be a middle man to have to pay.i am a painting contractor myself and thats how it works.hope this helps
