My daughter is into Dragons, Harry Potter and wizards and fairies...she has 4 walls each a different color. We found this awesome paint at Lowes, that has "gold dust" in it...and we chose darker colors to keep the room "warm". Colors are a beautiful shade of darker purple (not towards black, but darker lilac), a pretty rust, a goldenrod yellow and a darker sage green. The curtains we made, out of jaquard, woven with silver, gold, white and dark purple, and above the window itself, we've bought 15 foot lengths of sheer material in those 4 colors and adding rust and sage green, each with sparkles on it and hung them above like valances. Her bedspread is the darker purple, with rust and sage flowers and leaves...and satin throw pillows with fringe.
Take the colors you love best, use them in the furnishings, walls and decorations...and go from there. The link below will give you options on furniture color, wall color, accent colors, and show you basically, how a room would look with the colors you choose. Enjoy your new home and make it yours!
PS...My color preferences are a bit different, with a "lime/sage" green mix on the walls in my living room, sofa and loveseat a faux suede in darker red, oak wood and black wrought iron tables, tv stand, video/dvd shelving, brushed stainless pole lamps, oil painting of jazz cafe over sofa, Beatles album covers poster, and wrought iron wall hangings in medallion shapes, along with musical notes and candle wall sconces all around for soft lighting. Took me awhile to get everything, but many of the hangings and sconces were found at dollar stores! Look around, whatever catches your eye...that you think will go well, usually does. :)

Making it feel warm and cozy helps if you put some personal items around and hang some pictures. Buy a couple of plants. Greenery always makes a home look nice.Picture in your mind where you would like everything to go, and it will just fall into place.
