Best wall color for my living room?

HI,

I am 26 year old male and I am getting my living room painted. I have hear that colors have a lot of effect on brain. Please advise of a good color for a living room.

Answers:
Cream. Something light...maybe even pale yellow. You'll want it bright and cheery.

White gets dirty.

Other colors might be hard to match your decor. Keep that in mind. (Especially reds)

Anything dark is going to be depressing. Not to mention dark colors make the room look small.

Green is calming, thats all I know.
Puke Pink
white.
white or a light yellow
try blood red.
get a torquoise blue it is calming and tranquil any man who would ask this has to be going places
Go for a light shade of blue..
hazelnut cream
paint it a nice pale steel blue. then go neutral tan furniture. very calming and masculine.
you should paint it white
lime green
Red walls with tan trim.
Light colours make the room more spacey, but don't get anything cold looking, maybe a mid blue :)
white
I like warm colors. They seem really inviting. It's a little drastic but I did only one of my walls (in my condo) red. It really warmed the place up and I feel so at peace when I come home. I do hear that red makes you eat more though lol. Yellow and browns are good too... like a toffee brown.

If you like tranqulity I would go with a blue which is a claming color though.

Interesting fact: I do hear that if you paint your ceilings black you will go insane.. so don't do that!
The best wall color for a living room is like a Burgandy color because it sometimes brings out all the other colors you have in your other rooms!
try green or blue (they're calming colors) don't get red because it makes you angry.
a good brown rustic color is great for a bacholor pad but green is calming and orange makes u hungry great now a nice cheery color could work like a bright blue...or an ocean theme crown molding white and navy blue...also a nice brown can do the trick. but keep in consideration...lighter the harder it is to clean
hi im a decorator, and as there are colours that trick the brain eg red is romance, anger. but the best colour for somewhere that ur going to be in most of the time would be a nice calm colour, like Gardinia or Magnolia, or try a soothing brown but a light 1, or 2 tone so 40% at the bottom of a dark brown and 60% at the top in a light brown, i know your probably thinking brown errrr but its so effective, the browns are in now and i cant paint enough of them, and as for the wod work go for a Satinwood, in brilliant white, its so calming and soft on the eye. Good Luck Mate
red makes you hungry
green and yellow make you nervous
blue is calming
pink is settling

It is so hard to figure out one certain color for a room because people always change their minds. Also, it is hard to pick one color that matches all the other rooms. So, you should pick a neutral color (tan, light brown, cream, off-white, white, etc.) and highlight it with whatever color you choose(choc.brown, green, black, blue, burgandy.) To highlight, make the drapes the highlight color and the decorations and everything else you want. That way, it is much easier to replace the decorations than to repaint the walls. It will also match the rest of the house. Good luck.
A good colorologyst would tell you they need to know more about you. For instance, are you very busy at work and need to unwind at home, or is it too monontonous at work and need reved when you go home.

Here is a site for color and the brain. Chromotherapy.
