How do you convert inches to linear feet?

I'm looking to replace my counter tops...how do I convert the dimensions, in inches to linear feet? How do you convert the dimensions if the length and width of the countertops are not the same on all sides?

Answers:
12" = to 1 linear foot.

Laminate tops have what we call an applied on edge... so the front to the very back against the wall is usually 25" to 25.5" Deep.

Any solid surface (Granite, Quartz and Corian "Acrylic type" etc.) that have an edge to be routed off to make the edge (bull nose etc.) industry standard will be at a 26" Depth wise.

Island and peninsula tops will have individual size depending on the cabinet formation underneath. Though typical depth of a single level Island/Peninsula with a 24" deep cabinet and a 12" overhang will be 36" (solid surface will be more)... (25" on one side [24" cabinet + 1" overhang] with 11" Overhang).

Another thing that you would need to keep in mind will be your back splash... some older homes have a laminate sheet running all the way up, but it will not be advised in this day and age because laminate is a pressed piece of paper... to make the countertop they put the different patterned pressed paper on MDF (fiber board). And they apply glue to attach that laminate splash to your walls... when tearing them out, dry wall comes out too!

Laminate only comes with a year warranty at best, they do not warranty any gloss finish (shiny coating on paper will scratch when even pressed with a finger nail).

Typical laminate splash is 3-4" high (some people also have a splash put in with their solid surface).

No splash is necessary when doing solid-surface if you are tiling the back splash!

Note: Squareness of your wall.

P.S. Any further questions that I can help, please message me.

divid by 12
12 inches = 1 feet
To convert inches to linear feet, divide by 12.

If your counter tops are that irregular, you should draw them out with dimensions to show your supplier. In any case, you will need to purchase the longest dimension. The installer will 'scribe' the counter to fit, and cut off any extra.
line up ur feet, and c which one is longer. If the right is longer, take the average. If the left is longer, go with the right.

Oh yes, and make sure u don't stand on carpet, cause that's gonna make ur linear feet non-linear.

12 inches equal 1 foot. About uneven sides, just measure what u got, the sides don't have to be exactly the same.
There is always 12 inches in a foot. Hasn't changed since you were supposed to learn this in school Unles you grew up usung the metric system.
