What teqhnique and products do I need to paint Furniture Shabby Chic?
Answers:
You really don't need anything but sand paper. I have shabby chic-ed all kinds of stuff (dresser, picture frames, mirror frames) and haven't ever done anything but used sand paper. After painted with the desired color, let it dry completely. Then just run the sand paper over the corners and edges. Notice how you hold it and then sand there. You want to make it look like it is been used. Just don't use a high-gloss paint. It doesn't go with the style. As far as I know, the whole "Shabby Chic" movement started with Rachel Ashwell (an interior decorator). According to her, the basic shabby chic colors are pink, gray, white and yellow. Maybe even a little green works too.
Good luck!

Is that different from the "distressed" look? If not, file off the varnish, paint it badly with poster paints and leave it out in the rain.

White paint! Some times I have seen Shabby Chic furniture painted warm white and the edges lightly sanded. I love the Shabby Chic look!
