should i strip the paint off of my room?

we recently moved into a house and there is this ugly yellow paint in one of the rooms. i want to paint this room white. should i strip off the paint first, or will it be ok if i just paint over it?

Answers:
You should be able to just paint over that color. A paint called "kiltz' is specially made to do that. But, it is a little more expensive.

Other answers:
Just paint over it.
Just paint over it.
You can just paint over it; just make sure you use good quality paint and put on 2-3 layers.

When you are painting, just paint in vertical strokes. You'll get better coverage this way.
put primer on it first - you can get it at the paint store
then paint over the primer
go get a primer and do it first, then pick a color andpaint
either way
Strip the paint. You will be happier.
does it really matter? you wont see the colour underneath anyway?
It may take a couple of coats if the yellow is very bright or dark but painting over it is way easier than stripping paint off the walls!
Put a coat of primer over the existing paint (you may need to use KILZ if it is a dark yellow), then paint. No need to strip the existing paint.
Paint on a good primer first, like Kiltz, this will cover up the yellow, then you can put the top coat on whatever color you want. Prior to painting, you want to wipe down the walls (they sell the cleaners in the paint section of the store) to get any thing off the walls that would affect the paint sticking to it. I use a little ammonia and water, but that is too strong for most people.
If it is old paint, you may want to use primer first. Something like Kilz will do. THen just roll on your new color. Remember more than one coat will give you much nicer finish. Have fun with it.
If the paint is very deep yellow, you may want to prime over it first, then paint with the white. If it is a pale yellow, just paint over it directly.
Use white water based primer and then white latex paint.
First Clean the wall with TSP, sand any ruff spots, and spackle and sand any holes. Then use a primer you can have this tented with the color you are going to use, then paint. Good Luck and have fun.
Prime, then paint.
paint first with a stain kill and then you should be able to paint any color you want
