what was the style of brick mortar in the 1960's that bulged out of the bricks?

I know it was popular in the southwest on the outside of homes and the insides also. What can one do to easily get rid of it? besides chisiing and sanding for years??

It's called a "Weep Joint" it is non removable since the mortar is all the way under the brick. If you try to remove it will never look like a "Struck Joint".
It was called "slump brick" You have to knock off the excess with a hammer and plaster over the brick. Hire a contractor!
